Visitors to the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing will be able to try sending and receiving Morse code messages.
Saturday's event will feature a demonstration of telegraph machines by the Morse Telegraph Club.
Museum Director Sandra Clark says the program will explain the importance of the telegraph during the Civil War, when armies used
it to coordinate operations and keep civilian leaders informed of what was happening on the battlefield.
Admission is free to the program, which begins at 10 a.m.
The museum is inside the Michigan Library and Historical Center at 702 W. Kalamazoo St.
