U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will visit Detroit Wednesday.
Sebelius is expected to discuss the Obama administration's
health care law and make an announcement at Covenant Community
Care.
Last month, her department announced $21 million in federal grants for expansion projects at five community health centers in
Kansas and nearly $3.5 million for two centers in Utah.
The grants are from the Affordable Care Act, which provides $9.5
billion to expand services over five years and $1.5 billion to support construction and renovation projects at community health centers.
The number of patients served by community health centers is
expected to grow by about 1.3 million nationally over the next two
years.
