Rainbow PUSH Michigan and other groups will speak out against violence, firearms on Detroit's streets and the low numbers of available jobs during a protest at a gun shop.

The "Guns Out-Jobs In" initiative is scheduled for noon Saturday at a shop on the city's northwest side.

The event falls under Rainbow PUSH Michigan's Crusade for America Parent and Youth March. The organization says that is part of a larger movement demanding "an end to the flow of guns in urban communities."

The protest is one of 25 across the country.

Detroit is among the nation's leaders in homicide and violent
crime.

The Rev. D. Alexander Bullock says unemployment, school drop-out
rates and murders in Detroit and other urban communities "have produced a pattern of genocide and self-perpetuated homicide."
