Two workers at a mid-Michigan steel plant have been injured during a furnace explosion.
MLive.com reports (http://bit.ly/LSPPbN ) the Gerdau mill in Jackson, west of Detroit, was evacuated Friday after the 4 p.m. explosion.
Plant officials said in a statement that the injured employees were being treated at an area hospital.
Operations were temporarily suspended and production was not expected to be significantly impacted by the explosion.
A cause of the explosion has not been released.
