Travelers taking Amtrak through Michigan now get free Wi-Fi on board.

The rail service announced Monday that the Michigan Department of Transportation spent $1 million to install internet on the trains.

Wi-Fi is also now available on Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin Amtrak routes.

State transportation officials hope the free internet will translate into more revenue through increased ridership.
