Hundreds of people attended a funeral for a northern Michigan soldier who died in Afghanistan, including football players from his high school wearing their jerseys.

Marine Sgt. Justin Hansen was killed July 24. His funeral was held Saturday at Kingsley High School, near Traverse City, where Hansen was a 2003 graduate.

Football coach Tim Wooer says Hansen "bled orange and black," the school's colors. He says the Kingsley gym would be full of championship banners if the football team had 22 players like Hansen each year.

The 26-year-old was a member of the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion from Camp Lejeune, N.C. The Traverse City Record-Eagle (http://bit.ly/PXSAot) says Hansen's parents stood at his casket and greeted visitors in a line that stretched outside the school.
