DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) A 45-year-old Florida man has received a 30- to 60-year prison sentence after accepting a plea deal in the 1991 rape and killing of a mother of five at a suburban Detroit social agency where she worked as a custodian.
Sixty-two-year-old Gracielita Flores was working at the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services in Dearborn when she was killed July 12, 1991. Police say that Kelly M. Brady was trying to burglarize the center when he killed Flores.
The Fort Pierce, Fla., man originally was charged with first-degree murder but pleaded guilty Nov. 18 to second-degree murder and agreed to a 30- to 60-year sentence.
Wayne County Circuit Judge Gregory Bell sentenced him Wednesday.
Police say the case remained unsolved until Brady confessed in 2012.
