ROME TOWNSHIP, Mich. A student seriously injured when a school bus struck a pickup in Lenawee County is on the way to recovery.

Onsted Community Schools Supt. Mark Haag says the student should be discharged Thursday. The student was transferred after Wednesday morning's crash from ProMedica Bixby Hospital in Adrian to an Ann Arbor facility.

ProMedica spokeswoman Tedra White says 17 of the 25 students on the bus were seen at Bixby. Eleven were brought in by ambulance, and six others were walk-ins.

White says the last student at Bixby was released Thursday. She says 21-year-old pickup driver Tyler Smith was in good condition at a Toledo hospital.

Smith tells authorities his view was obstructed when he pulled in front of the bus in Rome Township, about 60 miles southwest of Detroit.
