YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. A 19-year-old man faces a murder charge in the death of his 5-month-old daughter in their Ypsilanti Township home.

Washtenaw County sheriff's officials say Davontah Nelson also was arraigned Friday on a charge of first-degree child abuse.

Amareah Nelson suffered a fractured skull, lacerated liver, retinal hemorrhages and fractured ribs. She was pronounced dead Wednesday at an area hospital.

Medical personnel found the girl unresponsive in the home, west of Detroit.

Police say Davontah Nelson was the only adult in the home with Amareah and an 18-month-old child that he also fathered. He is being held without bond.

The Associated Press was unable to reach court officials Friday to determine if Nelson has a lawyer.
