The FBI says Director Robert Mueller has named Robert Foley as special agent in charge of the agency's Detroit division.

Foley most recently was special agent in charge of the administrative division in the Washington field office.

The FBI says Foley became an FBI agent in 1996, working in Connecticut. He later worked in Puerto Rico, Arizona and Kentucky.

He replaces Andrew Arena, who retired earlier this year to lead the Detroit Crime Commission. The new organization acts as a liaison between the public and law enforcement.

Arena had been the FBI's top agent in Detroit for five years.
