Two Michigan teenagers were recovering after a personal watercraft they were riding on exploded on a Mason County lake.
The Ludington Daily News reports Saturday that the teens were thrown five to six feet into the air by the explosion Friday on Hamlin Lake, northwest of Grand Rapids.
Both suffered burns and cuts. One of the teens was hospitalized. Their injuries did not appear life-threatening.
A fire official told the newspaper the watercraft was owned by the teenagers' family. The teens told authorities they heard a loud bang as they started the engine while leaving a marina. The watercraft also caught fire.
