“Erin’s Law,” a Michigan law aimed at increasing education and training to help prevent the sexual abuse of children, is on its way back to Governor Snyder.
According the WSJM, the law creates a task force to advise schools and lawmakers on creating a curriculum for schools to address the issue of child sexual abuse.
Erin Merryn, 27, the law’s namesake, was sexually abused as a child and now campaigns for increased education and protection. She is now pushing to get similar laws passed nationwide.
Governor Snyder is expected to sign the bills, and the law’s co-sponsor, state Senator John Proos, says he hopes to have recommendations to state lawmakers by 2014.
