Authorities in suburban Detroit say they suspect an arsonist started a blaze in a parked car found with an unidentified body in the passenger seat.

The Detroit Free Press says Eastpointe firefighters found the burning car about 4:45 a.m. Saturday and discovered the body of an adult inside.

WJBK-TV says the car was parked in the driveway of a home that had been vacant for several months. The body was extensively burned.

Police say the car was a black BMW. Investigators are working to learn the cause of death and the name of the victim.
