WARREN, Mich Warren has honored a chemistry teacher from the Detroit suburb who was shot to death while jogging in Benghazi, Libya.

Family members, teachers and elected officials gathered Wednesday at Bunert Schoolhouse for a ceremony in memory of 33-year-old Ronald T. Smith II. He died Dec. 5.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens says the National Honor Society at Warren Woods Tower High School planted a tree in memory of Smith, a 1997 graduate of the school.

He graduated in 2006 from the University of Texas and taught for about 18 months Benghazi's International School.
