DETROIT (AP) A Detroit man has been sentenced to 26 to 52 years in prison in the slaying of a 12-year-old honor student during a dispute between his mother and the girl's mother over a cellphone.
Joshua Brown was sentenced Tuesday. A Wayne County jury last month found the 21-year-old guilty of second-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and possession of a firearm during a felony.
Kadejah Davis-Talton died in 2012 from shots fired through the door of her home.
Prosecutors say Brown accompanied his mother Heather to confront Kadejah's mother over the disappearance of Heather Brown's cellphone.
Heather Brown pleaded no contest to being an accessory after the fact for driving her son to the scene.
