The U.S. Coast Guard says a dredging barge that was mostly sunken in Lake Huron has been recovered and taken to a maintenance dock in St. Clair.
The Arthur J went down July 19 in stormy weather about a mile from the Michigan shore near Lakeport, roughly 65 miles northeast of Detroit. Crews re-floated the 100-foot barge Monday.
A 38-foot tugboat that capsized when the Arthur J sank was recovered earlier.
No one was hurt when the two vessels went down nearly six miles north of the entrance to the St. Clair River. Some diesel fuel escaped after the accident, leaving a sheen on the water that reached land.
The Arthur J was positioned between two tugs for safety as it was escorted to the maintenance dock Monday.
