GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Authorities say that a Kent County commissioner was arrested on multiple sexual assault charges after attending a meeting in Grand Rapids.
MLive.com says that officers arrested Gary L. Rolls Jr. on Thursday. It says a 28-year-old Muskegon woman accuse him of sexual abuse that began when she was 9 or 10 years old.
Ionia County Prosecutor Ron Schaefer is handling the case because of a potential conflict with Kent County prosecutors.
Schaefer says in a statement that the charges against the 47-year-old lawmaker include four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, as well as using a computer to commit a crime and tampering with evidence.
MLive.com reports that a lawyer for the Grattan Township lawmaker says the accusations are untrue.
His arraignment is expected Friday.
