Bridgman, Mich. A Cook nuclear plant reactor is back up and running after a planned refueling outage that started in late March.
The unit one reactor returned to service yesterday evening at the plant operated by Indiana Michigan Power in Bridgman.
This outage was longer than normal, because crews also performed maintenance on the reactor and installed new equipment
Before the refueling outage, the reactor ran for a record 518 days straight.
That beat a 471 day record set back in 1994.
