"Cold is Cool" gives Mich. 4th graders free lift tickets

Fourth grade students in Michigan can head down the slopes for free this ski season.

The Michigan Snowsports Industries Association is giving students up to three free lift tickets or trail passes in 20 participating ski areas.

The “Cold is Cool” passports are sent to all Michigan schools in hopes of improving the kids’ health. Officials say the sport is perfect for nine and ten year-old children because they have the coordination required to pick it up quickly.
