Coates sentenced to minimum of 57 months for shootings

Beonton Harbor, Mich. A Benton Harbor man has learned his sentence for shooting a pair of teens.

Elliott Coates, 19, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault.

According to our reporting partners at the Herald Palladium, he was sentenced Monday to a minimum of 57 months in prison.

In court, Coates apologized for the shootings which took place on July 31.

A 17-year-old was found in Broadway Park with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

And later, police found a 16-year-old victim on Lavette Street, with a gunshot wound to the arm.
