The U.S. Coast Guard says it has suspended a search of the Detroit River that began with a report of a man falling from the Belle Isle bridge.

The Coast Guard says the search began Saturday after a Detroit emergency dispatch center got a call Saturday afternoon reporting a man falling from the Douglas MacArthur Bridge that links the Detroit mainland to Belle Isle park.

The Coast Guard says its eight-hour search used one of its own rescue boats and helicopters, a Coast Guard Auxiliary boat and an Ontario Provincial Police boat.

The Coast Guard says the search didn't turn up anyone, and so far there's no missing person report connected to the incident.
