SOUTHFIELD, Mich. Police are seeking charges against a 12-year-old Oak Park boy who was arrested following a late night bank break-in.

Southfield police Lt. Nick Loussia says a petition seeking a warrant for breaking and entering has been filed Monday with the county prosecutor.

Officers found the boy inside a Bank of America branch just north of Detroit about 3 a.m. Friday after an alarm alerted the bank's security company. A window had been broken and the boy's bicycle also was found near the front door.

Police said the boy had "property from the bank on his person." He was turned over later that day to his mother.

Loussia says she was at work the night of the bank break-in and told police her son was being watched by a relative.
