A Berrien County cemetery board member was arrested after allegedly stealing over $1,000 from the cemetery’s board.
Back in July of this year, Benton Harbor resident Thomas Golba, 42, allegedly distributed the money without the board’s approval. Golba’s distribution of the money violated the board’s rule that a majority vote is needed on all issues.
Employees at Crystal Springs Cemetery say Golba earned the money after scrap metals from the cemetery were sold at a local metal recycler.
At his arraignment today, Golba pleaded not guilty. He is scheduled to appear again in court on October 31st.
