KALAMAZOO, Mich. Authorities say they remain stumped about the cause of a fire at a Kalamazoo apartment complex two weeks ago that killed a woman.
The city's public safety department said Tuesday that it's still withholding the name of the victim while it tries to contact her relatives.
In a statement, Lt. Brad Misner says the Kalamazoo fire marshal completed an investigation of the Oct. 14 fire and still lists the cause of the fire as undetermined.
The city says a maintenance worker reported seeing smoke and flames coming from a building at Village Apartments. It says officers used ladders to rescue a number of residents from balconies.
