One man is dead and another is in the hospital after a single-car accident in Cass County Saturday morning.
It happened just before 7 on Burlington Road south of Marcellus Highway in Marcellus Township.
Police say 48-year-old John Eastes of Three Rivers lost control of his car and left the roadway. The vehicle hit a tree before coming to a stop in a swampy area.
Eastes suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a Kalamazoo hospital.
His passenger, 47-year-old Robert Haney of New Mexico, was killed in the crash.
It's unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
