Muskegon Township police say a 13-year-old boy has been killed in a car-pedestrian accident in western Michigan.

Police Chief Ken Sanford says the victim was part of a group of four or five young teens crossing U.S. 31, just south of Apple Avenue, on foot about 12:15 a.m. Saturday.

A northbound vehicle struck the teen.

Sanford tells MLive.com (http://bit.ly/TrSYQo ) the 23-year-old female driver "was not at fault."

Sanford says the victim was from out of town and visiting relatives. His identity was not released pending notification of relatives.

An investigation continues. Further details were not released.
