DETROIT, Mich.--- Eddie Murphy is returning to his role as Axel Foley in a new installment of the Beverly Hills Cop movie series, with shooting taking place in Detroit and environs and release expected in March 2016.

The Michigan Film Office announced Thursday that Brett Ratner will direct and Jerry Bruckheimer will produce the film for Paramount Pictures.

The film office says it has approved $13.5 million in incentives for the film, based on an estimated $56.6 million of projected expenses in the state. The state says the film will employ about 352 Michigan workers.

In the update to the franchise, the Foley character leaves his work as a Beverly Hills police detective during a record-cold winter to help with an investigation.
