Even police need permission to use guns sometimes, and they might not get it from Coloma Township.
Berrien County Police submitted a request back in 2010 to operate a police training gun range on Angling Road.
They need special permission because shooting there technically violates a township ordinance passed in 2008.
According to reporting partners at The Herald Palladium, the township planning commission finally took up the request, and voted to recommend rejecting it.
The long-standing dispute does not end here though.
The township sued the county over use of the range.
The case will go to court in September.
