A Benton Harbor firefighter is home from the hospital after he was injured fighting a blaze in March.

That's according to our reporting partners at The Herald Palladium.

Lieutenant Doug Bell was released from a Kalamazoo burn unit yesterday.

His hands and arms are in bandages as he heals.

He has 18 months of daily therapy ahead of him to repair nerve damage and he could still lose parts of his fingers.

But he says he's glad finally be home with family.

Bell was trapped in a burning garage while responding to a house fire on Jennings Avenue last month.

He was badly burned and had to receive skin graft surgery.
