BAY CITY, Mich.--- Bay City officials say they likely have found the source of a water main break that's been draining roughly 10 millions of gallons of water a day and prompted water-use restrictions.
City Manager Rick Finn said at a news conference Monday that crews found the break after three days of searching in and around the city. The main is east of the city's wastewater treatment plant.
Crews are working to turn off the valve to the main and will lift a water-use emergency when they have confirmed it's the cause of the rupture.
Under the emergency, residents are asked to avoid unnecessary water use. Residents have been asked to cut down on using water for personal hygiene.
Officials say crews discovered there was a major main break on Saturday.
