Authorities have identified a person whose body was found after a fire in a barn owned by the parents of a state legislator as that of a 30-year-old homeless man.
Mlive.com and the Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant say the Montcalm County sheriff's department announced that the victim is Sidney J. Perry.
Deputies say he had a history of sleeping in vacant buildings in the area.
The Oct. 15 fire destroyed the barn in Bushnell Township, about 45 miles northwest of Lansing. It was owned by the parents of state Sen. Judy Emmons, a Republican from Sheridan.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
