An attempted armed robber ran away empty handed from a Walmart in southwest Michigan Wednesday night despite showing staffers a handgun.
At around 8 p.m. a middle-aged man dressed in formal attire tried to hold up the Walmart in Sturgis. The man is said to be about five-foot-eight and was wearing a dress hat, dress coat, and suit when he entered the store.
Police say the robbery attempt occurred after he gained the confidence of the store’s management. The man asked to talk with management privately, told them he intended to rob the store and then revealed his handgun.
The suspect was unsuccessful, and took off in a mid-sized four-door car heading south on Centerville Rd. without any money or goods in tow.
