A state lawmaker from the Grand Rapids area has defeated incumbent Saul Anuzis for a seat on the Republican National Committee.

Anuzis conceded the race Saturday to Rep. Dave Agema of Grandville after ballots were cast at the state GOP convention. Anuzis and his supporters denied accusations that he has served as a lobbyist and rebuked calls that he was not conservative enough for the post.

Anuzis is a former chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. Party activists also replaced national committee member Holly Hughes with Terri Lynn Land, the former secretary of state. Hughes is a state lawmaker from Montague.

The convention wrapped up with presidential candidate Mitt Romney getting a majority of Michigan's delegates to the Republican National Convention in August.
