Annual Michigan Air Tour concludes in Alpena
ALPENA, Mich. (AP) - The 2012 Michigan Air Tour will conclude its three days of events and presentations in Alpena.
Michigan Aviation Association aviators on Sunday will fly into the Michigan Air National Guard Combat Readiness Training Center at the Alpena County Regional Airport.
The annual tour kicked off Friday at Davis Aerospace Technical High School in Detroit as nearly 30 pilots landed personal aircraft on the school's grounds at the Coleman A. Young International Airport.
Detroit Schools' officials say Davis was selected as the tour's starting point in recognition of the aviation programs offered at the school.
The tour also was to make weekend stops in Marshall, Adrian, Battle Creek and Cadillac.
Gov. Rick Snyder has proclaimed September as "Michigan Aviation Month" to recognize the economic importance of aviation in the state.
