Crews are continuing to restore electricity to homes and businesses that lost power following a winter storm that blasted parts of Michigan with snow and strong winds.
Jackson-based Consumers Energy says about 25,000 customers still were without electricity Saturday, while Detroit-based DTE Energy says 5,000 of its customers had no power.
DTE Energy says about 43,000 homes and businesses were impacted by the storm. Consumers Energy says more than 160,000 of its customers suffered outages since early Thursday.
Consumers Energy customers in some areas may be without electricity until Monday. DTE Energy expects power to be restored Saturday.
The storm dumped more than 1 ½ feet of snow in Michigan. It was part of a system that began in the Rockies earlier in the week.
