A judge has restored an open murder charge against a woman accused in connection with the death of her 3-year-old stepdaughter.

St. Clair County Circuit Judge Daniel Kelly on Monday restored the charge against 29-year-old Jennifer Galvan. She also faces torture and child abuse charges.

The Times Herald of Port Huron says 26-year-old Joe Galvan of Kimball Township, the child's biological father, also faces charges including open murder, first-degree child abuse, possession of a controlled substance and felony firearm.

Authorities say the girl died at home Jan. 15 as a result of blunt-force trauma. An autopsy determined the girl's death was a homicide.

Jennifer and Joe Galvan are being held at the St. Clair County jail. Jail officials did not immediately know if they had lawyers.
