Democrats swept all six openings on Michigan's three elected state university boards to gain considerable control of the governing bodies.

Dianne Byrum and Diann Woodard were elected to the Michigan State University Board of Trustees.

Denise Ilitch and incumbent Laurance Deitch won the race for the University of Michigan Board of Regents.

And Gary Pollard and incumbent Paul Massaron were elected to the Wayne State University Board of Governors.

Democrats already held majorities on the boards.
