NORTON SHORES, Mich. A young woman and two brothers are nearing the halfway point of their paddle board crossing of Lake Michigan.
Twenty-three year-old Craig Masselink, his 19-year-old brother Trent and their friend 21-year-old Ginny Melby left McKinley Beach about 8:45 a.m. CDT Sunday. They say they plan a 30-hour crossing to their families' cottages in Norton Shores, Mich.
The paddle aims to raise money for the charity group Restore International.
An online tracking system showed them about 45 miles from the Michigan shoreline at 7:20 p.m. EDT Sunday.
They're taking turns paddling while the others two ride in a 40-foot support boat owned by Bruce Wolfert, a friend of a friend.
Melby's bother and the Masselinks' father are aboard.
