DETROIT (AP) - Three adults will stand trial on involuntary manslaughter and other charges in the accidental shooting death of a 4-year-old boy by his cousin.
A Detroit judge ordered the trial following Friday's preliminary examination for 53-year-old Patricia Johnson, 56-year-old Harvey Witcher and 66-year-old Robert Richardson.
Circuit court arraignments are scheduled for Feb. 21.
Authorities say the three adults were present in a home Jan. 16 when a 4-year-old girl picked up a loaded gun and shot her cousin, Jamel Witcher Jr.
The children were playing together before the incident.
The Detroit Free Press reports that Johanna Todd testified Friday that she was one of the police officers to arrive after the shooting. Todd said that when she asked the girl what happened, the girl responded: "I shot Junior dead."
