A second man has been charged in the weekend break-in of an Oceana County barn and theft and slayings of pigs.

MLive.com reports that 29-year-old Benjamin McGhan of Bitely in Newaygo County was arraigned Friday on breaking and entering, larceny of livestock and malicious destruction of property charges.

McGhan was not represented by an attorney at his arraignment.

A 28-year-old Bitely man, Christopher Abbatoy, was arraigned Monday in the case.

Authorities say a barn at Valley View Pork Farm in Colfax Township, about 60 miles northwest of Grand Rapids, was burglarized Aug. 11.

One pig was stolen and the throats of two 300-pound sows were slit.

Workers arriving at the farm found an extensive amount of blood and the wounded sows that later were euthanized.
