The U.S. Coast Guard says a crew from St. Clair Shores has rescued two people injured in a boat collision on Lake St. Clair.

The Coast Guard said in a statement Sunday that two recreational boats collided about 10:30 p.m. Saturday,

The crash involved a 21-foot vessel with four people aboard and an anchored 19-foot recreational vessel with two people aboard.

The Coast Guard says two people on the anchored boat were hurt and says neither was wearing a life jacket at the time. It says 84 percent of the 533 people who drowned in recreational boating
accidents in the U.S. last year weren't wearing life jackets.

The statement says the injured people were taken to Mount Clemens Regional Hospital. The Coast Guard had no word Sunday on their conditions.
