Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick says it will take a bit longer before city hall is ready to reopen following a fire started by a lightning strike.

Kilpatrick says cleanup work is taking longer than expected. He says the Coleman Young Municipal Center should reopen Wednesday, not Monday as originally hoped.

The building also houses some Wayne County and court offices.

No injuries were reported in the June 27th fire.

Kilpatrick has said lightning struck a water pumping station along the Detroit riverfront, causing a power surge that disabled three transformers.
