The season of giving comes early for one Michigan lake town.

This after two anonymous donors stepped forward to give back to their community in a time of need.

Word of Life Family Worship Center in Cassopolis, Michigan was one of the recipients. An anonymous donor apparently called Reverend Cooper of the church to inform him he would pay off the remainder of the mortgage.

The church was purchased 5 years ago, after the building sat vacant for 2 years. According to Reverend Cooper, the building was in bad shape and needed a lot of work, and of course, money. The donor stepped forward after Cooper says he "appreciated" what the church was doing with the youth. Most recently, he praised the church block party from last summer.

Just last month, another anonymous donor stepped forward to give to the Cassopolis public school food services. This donor gave $2,000 to offset lunch account defecits for students and their families.

Food Service director Robyn Bright says the funds helped keep many students from starting the 2012 school year in the negative. But she says sadly, those funds have already been depleted because of the significant need during a tough economy.

"We are in very difficult economic times. Gas is expensive. Food is expensive. Every time you go to the grocery store it costs more. And I think families are facing, you know, 'whether I buy a gallon of gas or a gallon of milk,'" says Bright.

Both recipients said they are delighted to have such generous people in the Cassopolis community. While the donations were a surprise, Bright and Cooper said they won't go unnoticed.
