Family and friends of a Michigan soldier missing since his unit was attacked in Iraq by insurgent forces a year ago are planning a rally Saturday.

Pvt. Byron W. Fouty of Oakland County's Waterford Township and Sgt. Alex R. Jimenez of Lawrence, Mass., were seized a year ago Monday when insurgents attacked and overran a checkpoint in a volatile area south of Baghdad.

The Detroit News reports the rally in the Detroit suburb of Waterford Township will feature a swing band, F-16 flyovers and a Chinook helicopter landing.

The Detroit Free Press reports the event is for Fouty, other missing soldiers and all troops.

Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr. was also captured during the raid, but his body was found May 23 floating in the Euphrates River.
