Detroit-area authorities say a woman trying to help an injured driver at an expressway crash scene was struck and killed by an oncoming car. Another driver also died.
The multivehicle accident happened on eastbound Interstate 94 about 3:30 a.m. Sunday in Macomb County's Chesterfield Township. It's about 20 miles northeast of Detroit.
Township police Chief Bruce Smith tells The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens (http://bit.ly/WlrWMR ) that a pickup truck struck an electronic arrow board road construction sign, then was hit by a second pickup.
Smith says a semi-truck driver tried avoid hitting the pickups but instead jackknifed into the wreckage.
He says a woman left her vehicle to help an injured driver but was hit by a car.
She and the first pickup driver were killed.
