The Wayne County Election Commission has rescinded its decision to allow a recall petition against Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
The Detroit Free Press and WDIV-TV report the commission ruled Wednesday to reverse its stance at the request of the mayor's lawyer Alan Canady. It says 42-year-old Douglas Johnson doesn't live at the Detroit address listed on the petition.
Johnson had said the home belonged to his mother who later sold it on a land contract.
The commission says a person filing a recall petition must live in the city where the recall is being sought.
Johnson says he will ask another member of his 25-member recall group to file a new petition by the end of the week.
