The Kalamazoo Nature Center is selling carbon reduction credits from a 140-acre restored prairie in Kalamazoo County to industries.

The center says it has joined the Delta Institute. The institute is a member of the Chicago Climate Exchange, which validates and manages carbon credits.

The center is in Cooper Township, about 125 miles west of Detroit.

The Kalamazoo Gazette says members of the exchange include Ford Motor Co., Dow Chemical Co., DTE Energy Co. and Michigan State University.

The Delta Institute will present a check to the nature center February 21.
