A 40-year-old woman who was hit by a sport utility vehicle in Port Huron then dragged a distance has been released from a Detroit hospital.

Police tell the Times Herald that Cherita King of Port Huron was struck this week by 80-year-old Ruth Haacke.

They say Haacke continued driving, dragging King beneath her SUV before being stopped by another motorist.

Haacke of Port Huron says she didn't see anybody and the incident happened very quickly.

Police issued Haacke a careless driving ticket punishable by a $160 fine.
