Hazmat crews will begin a clean up operation Friday after five cars of a Saginaw Bay Southern Railroad train derailed in Saginaw.

The Saginaw News reports authorities have barricaded Interstate 675 at the city limits. Firefighters say four of the five cars that derailed Thursday night appear to be harmless.

WSGW-AM reports one tanker car bound for Dow Chemical plants in Midland plants was carrying Acrylonitrile, a liquid chemical used in plastics and synthetic rubber.

Hazardous materials experts from Dow responded to the scene to offer help.

Firefighters say the substance isn't leaking from the car.
