Investigators are looking into the cause of a two-alarm fire that damaged a school on Detroit's southwest side.

Fire Department Lt. Teresa Halsell says no one was injured in the Wednesday morning blaze at Bennett Elementary.

Halsell says maintenance workers were in the school at the time of the fire, but students and teachers are out for the holiday break.

Utility crews arrived early in the afternoon to shut off gas to the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
